Budapest Breast Cosmetic Surgery

It has always been a question of historical era and region what the ideal, attractive breasts look like. Nevertheless, they are basically "designed" for breast-feeding and have a tremendous psycho-sexual significance. Breast lift is performed to correct descended, sagging breasts. Primary factors that lead to this condition include several pregnancies, longer duration of breast-feeding period(s) and related physiological and hormonal changes, accompanied by weight fluctuations. Enlargement of milk-secreting mammary gland causes the skin to significantly expand. When breast-feeding period is over, mammary glands become contracted and atrophied to a certain extent. Consequently, skin elasticity is reduced, resulting in loose skin, frequently full of strias. Breast lose their former shape and position, and even the size can change.

The surgery is designed to raise the breasts back to their normal anatomical position and reshape them by improving their fullness, contour and shape.

Preceded by a routine medical examination, breast lift surgery is performed under general anaesthesia or local anaesthesia in some cases. With no respect to the patients's age, ultrasound or mammographic examination of breasts is compulsory before surgery.

The extent of descending, sagging of the breast is classified into three categories, depending on the position of the nipple compared to that of the crease beneath the breast. Based on aesthetic evaluation of breast characteristics (size, position, proportion of nipple and areola, skin quality etc.) the optimum type of surgery can be chosen.

Following the surgery the patient is suggested to rest and wear a special bra for 3 to 6 weeks. Sutures are removed in the second and third postoperative weeks. After a month it is recommended to use the/a bra only when performing strenuous physical activities, doing sports. After-care of new scars is necessary in every case.

Early postoperative complications (poor healing of the skin, formation of haematomas i.e. pooling of blood under the skin) are rare. After healing, uneven scars, asymmetry, changes in sensitivity of nipples and areolas may be experienced.
Recently developed, state-of-the-art operation techniques leaving fewer scars provide good aesthetic results and an overall more attractive appearance.
